The Zambia Competition Commission was established under the Competition and Fair trading Act Section 4 of Chapter 417 of the Laws of Zambia to prevent anti-competitive and restrictive business practices and promotes consumer welfare. The law came into force in February 1995. The Commission is an autonomous corporate body under the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry.
The Act deals with agreements, decisions and concerted practices by firms and organisations that prevent distort and or restrict competition in Zambia and those actions by traders that already affect s consumer welfare.
